Title: Nice Try, Afton (The Afton Morrison Series, # 3)
Author: Brent Jones
Publish Date: September 17, 2018
Genre: Psychological Thriller/Suspense
Summary: Is evil a matter of choice, or are we born that way?
After a string of brazen arsons overwhelms Wakefield’s first responders, the town is placed on lockdown, rendering Afton and her companions vulnerable to attack.
In a last-ditch effort to protect her inner circle, Afton attempts to establish an improbable truce with her archnemesis, leading her into a deadly trap more than a decade in the making. Survival will mean choosing to embrace her dark side, once and for all.
My apologies for not posting the past few days, and also getting to this story. I had a wisdom tooth pulled and I was in between groggy in bed and ‘where the hell am I?’ state. My mouth is still sore, but at least the problem is gone now. Anyway…
Afton cannot catch a break! I enjoy how these are quick reads, especially when I have to be bed ridden for a few days. I can understand at first why she was hesitant about her sister, but then I’m like ‘okay, yeah she’s gotta go.’ I’m just morbid like that, like Animus is.
And poor Twinkie!!
I won’t tell you why I say that, but damnit, I’m just as upset about it as Afton was.
It’s difficult to not review this book without giving away spoilers. But you wanna talk family drama? I think Afton has everybody beat at the current moment. Finding out she had a sister, twin sister (spoiler, sorry), and said sister hates her guts (damn!) and now poor Twinkie!
I’m anxious about the fourth book and to see what happens with Afton. So much has happened with Afton so while you could pick a series and read it, why would you want only the limited edition of Afton when you can have her awesomeness from the beginning?
