Book Review :: See You Soon, Afton (Afton Morrison Series, #2) by Brent Jones

Title: See You Soon, Afton (Afton Morrison Series, #2)
Author: Brent Jones
Publish Date: August 7th, 2018

At last! I finished the second book and my initial response was…well damn! That’s a good thing, though. I’m going to try my best to keep this as spoiler free as I can. I do suggest, if you haven’t already, to read my review for the first book Go Home, Afton. Or, just go read the book itself and you’ll see what I mean.

To start off, here’s a brief goodreads summary:

Somebody is watching. Somebody is always watching.

A teenage girl in Wakefield has been abducted, and tracking her down not only tests Afton’s moral limits, but threatens her freedom and her life.

Suspected of murder by local police, and under the watch of a menacing figure in the shadows, Afton’s search and rescue effort unravels dark secrets from her own past. Familial secrets her mother took to the grave, more than a decade ago.

Afton cracks me up. She’s a smart ass librarian and I love her. She suffered such a trauma and that’s why she has this look a like alter ego named Animus.

This one takes place right after the first book. Someone is following Afton and finds out that this person’s intentions go way beyond stalking. I was so stunned by the twist. I won’t reveal and it’s so difficult to not do that.

I love how Brent Jones writes this character. Sure she has a foul mouth and she has an urge to kill people, but only people who deserve it. That’s logical to me, lol.

I’ve never seen Jessica Jones and that’s one of the similarities that’s been used to describe this series. I’m glad to not have that comparison because it makes me like this character more.

This is the second book in the series and will be available for purchase on August 7th. I would definitely give the first book a read.

  1. Hi Amanda,

    Thanks for the awesome review.

I know what you mean about trying to write a review, but not wanting to reveal too much. That’s how I felt trying to write the book blurbs!

There are still plenty more twists and turns to come in books three and four. I’ll hope you’ll keep reading.
